Helljoy!

Managed to see Hellboy 2 at the weekend and I'm happy to report that it was all I had hoped for and perhaps slightly more. There was a heavy Del Toro look to the creatures (no bad thing) and the golden army were really menacing (although it all went a bit 'Labyrinth' for the battle scene). Even Luke Goss failed to disappoint, something that he has not had a problem with in the past. Since I can't find my copy of the original Hellboy on dvd, I'm going to have to buy it again to remind me of whether or not it was as good as the sequel. Guillermo Del Toro is threatening to overtake Tim Burton in my directorial estimations and if Hellboy 2 is anything to go by, the Hobbit might be in safe hands... I was so impressed, I did this little promo image :)

Luc - I love the illo !! but gotta say can't agree on HB2 - it felt like GDT was trying out for the Hobbit - I love LOTR but in Middle Earth not Brooklyn ! sorry - rant over :)
Well, fair point, the Del Toro look is probably an acquired taste and some of the monsters were very Pan's Labyrinth but I kinda like the fairy tale approach. I'm still worried about the Hobbit cos I love the Lord of the Rings films and it's not gonna look anything like those....

I hear ya but I think he's the best choice if Peter Jackson won't do it - no Manilow on the soundtrack tho !

Aw, I quite liked Luke Goss in Blade 2. Somehow, as a mutant vampire whose face opened up like a flower, he kinda worked.
Well, I suppose if there are any other films calling for a mutant vampire with a face that opens up like a flower he'll be first in line for the role in that case!
